Why yes the marines were here

Although I interviewed several times, I was never their guy! As I continued my work in cyber-security for the Department of Defense while applying to other jobs, I realized how intricately intertwined large, fortune companies were with the threat itself.

Cyber-actors were shifting their focus toward attacks against the American institution, of which industry is a large part. So, as a good Operations Chief would do, I began searching for outside of the box solutions. A colleague of mine opened my eyes to what a whole new world of cyber-protection looks like. My mind was blown. And it just so happened that he went to college with someone who worked as a SecOps specialist at Cisco. A simple phone call and email introduction launched me on the road to my new career.

I applied to three positions at Cisco and got interviews scheduled within a week! This was not at all what I was used to. But this is what makes Cisco different. A hiring manager from my first interview stayed in contact with me and got me another round of interviews for a different, but similar position. After this round of interviews, I felt like I truly found my spot as a Cisconian.

And then, I received my offer! What a ride. After probably 15 total interviews with Cisco, I landed in a place where I knew I would thrive. I finally get to stop cyber-criminals from wreaking havoc on our industry partners by offering them some of the best cyber-defense software in the world.

Cisco has been nothing short of amazing. The pace of work, the people I work with, and the culture of Cisco are easily why the company shines as a top employer to work for. Ready to secure the world with us? Check out our careers now! Subscribe to the We Are Cisco Blog.

We'd love to hear from you! Just saying. Also, Rangers are sent in first on any Army tour, Marines are sent in first if it's more of a Navy operation. Also, their motto is not "One shot, one kill," because all of the branches are trained to use suppressive fire until somebody can get a better angle. TL;DR: Marines are not anywhere near as awesome as they're made out to be. The average Marine is better trained than the average Soldier, but they're not at all Special Forces.

Marines aren't trained to occupy, nor are they made to sustain themselves. Anything not combat related is dealt with by the Navy. Honestly, I never want to join the Marines or work with them, because every damn Marine but my uncle are just total pricks and super prideful, and act like because they're a Marine, that they're as good as Delta or Green Beret.

I'd say the average Marine is maybe as good as a Ranger. And they have the same jobs really. But my money would still be on the Rangers. Though that's just sheer combat.

And Coast Guard has nothing, because they're Puddle Pirates. I'm an American and I even got a hearty laugh out of that. Well done. Reminds me of a joke that is on the basis of that: Where's the best place to stand if a nuke is fired at you with an american targeting system?

The target. They are so helpful, make sure of every detail, are able to make changes on the fly… and are so nice as well! The location is so handy to walk to Union Square, Chinatown and more.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. The staff super friendly, the hotel super clean, and in a great location. No foo foo decor here, the hotel is nicely decorated in a masculine theme…of course. The free breakfast was delicious and expansive with a nice view of the city from the top floor dining room.

This hotel is very centrally located and beautifully decorated with USMC pride. Their restaurant and bar overlooks the city and every aspect of the hotel pays tribute to the Marine Corps. There is live piano music with dinner.

We were upgraded to the executive suite, which had a full board room style table, sitting area, desk, mini fridge, king size bed, and very large bathroom with the toilet and big tub separate from the sink and closet area.

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided in built-in pumps; lotion, makeup remover wipe, and soap were also provided separately in the bathroom.

Overall, a great experience! Great location- in Union Square , close to cable car and shopping. Clean hotel and courteous staff 3. Amazing views especially from the rooftop restaurant 4. Complementary happy hour, bar area is quite small so get there early. Amazing hot breakfast! For example: made to order omelettes, fresh fruit, pastries, biscuits and gravy, cereal, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns.

Just to name a few. Onsite gym, museum, theater, business center, etc. We had a wonderful time! Delicious calamari, cioppino, prime rib, garlic fries perfectly crispy, retro iceberg wedge salad to-die-for… I swam in the crystal clear pool to work off some calories! Sarge in Reception is so polite, friendly and efficient! He is a real asset to MMC! Alex, the concierge is also charming!

We have joined the Club and we definitely will return! The breakfast and the view is spectacular! Leave the details in the skilled hands of our team and be confident your vision will be executed flawlessly from setup, to audio visual requirements, to a gourmet menu.
